ILC Staff Profiles
Marie Lewis: Senior Teacher
(TTC, TESOL, CELTA, LTCL)
Marie has had over 25 years of teaching experience in New Zealand, Japan and the United Kingdom. She has also held managerial position in international corporations (AmEx).
Well qualified for the position, Marie has been a homestay mother for ten years, two of her children have been overseas exchange students and she was selected as an exchange teacher to Japan for two years. Marie enjoys travel and learning about other cultures especially her students. In her free time she loves to escape to the local mountains to ski and hike. A gourmet cook, she loves to entertain. She plays mah-jong and belongs to the local book club.
Marie believes Wanaka, and Mount Aspiring College, offers a unique educational experience, combining the sophistication of a city school, within a safe, beautiful, mountain village environment.
Linda Pierce: Teacher
(Dip S.T., Cert TEFL)
Linda has taught students from 23 different countries. These included two years in South Australian High Schools and 18 years in Government and International schools in Papua New Guinea. She has been teaching ESOL here at Mount Aspiring College for 12 years.
Linda has been a homestay parent as well. She has two children who attended Mount Aspiring College for seven years and benefited greatly from the experience. They both acheived highly at National Levels.
A personal comment from Linda:

Kazu Hisatomi: Student/Teacher Liason, Japan
(B. D. Ed)
Kazu has previously worked for six years as a Teacher Consultant/Supervisor, at The Educational Research Centre of Hokkaido Board of Education. He also worked for two years as Chief of International Relations Division at Main Office of Hokkaido Board of Education.
Mr Hisatomi has also served as Principal at two major Public High Schools in Japan.
He is now the Asian District Educational Advisor.
Claire Easterbrook: ILC Manager
(Dip Bus, Cert Man)
Claire has been the manager and administrator at the ILC for the last five years. Previous experience as a travel agent, caterer, early childhood worker, legal executive and mother has given her the contacts and life skills needed to ensure the smooth, efficient well organised transition of the international students into New Zealand and their host families.
Claire loves people, music and singing. She often hosts concerts at her home and is a member of the local choir.
Claire believes, if you’ve travelled yourself you know what a warm welcome can do for your experience and makes all of the students feel welcome, looked after and able to make the most of their time here.
